1. About this policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Canvera Ltd ("Canvera Clinic", "we", "us" or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, canveraclinic.com and any related subdomains or patient portals we operate.
It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how we handle your personal information.
This policy complies with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulations where they apply.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to collect information about how a site is used.
We also use similar technologies, including web beacons, pixels, local storage, and session storage. In this policy we refer to all of these as "cookies" for simplicity.
3. Your consent
The first time you visit our website, a cookie banner appears asking for your preferences.
- Strictly necessary cookies are always active. They do not require your consent because they are essential for the site to work.
- All other cookies are only set after you have given consent by clicking "Accept" or by making a specific choice in the preferences panel.
You can change your preferences at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of our website. Changing your preferences will not affect cookies that were set while consent was in place, but you can delete those cookies at any time using your browser controls (see section 9).
4. Categories of cookies we use
We group the cookies we use into four categories. The specific cookies in each category are listed below. You can see a current, detailed list on the "Cookie settings" page of our website at any time.
4.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to function. Without them, we could not provide the services you have asked for. Examples include cookies that:
- keep you logged in to your account during a session;
- route your traffic through our servers securely;
- remember where you are in a booking or eligibility flow so you don't lose progress;
- protect the site from fraud and abuse;
- record your cookie preferences.
These cookies do not require your consent.
4.2 Preference (functionality) cookies
These cookies remember choices you make to improve your experience — for example, your region, language, or accessibility settings. They do not track you across other websites.
4.3 Analytics (performance) cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the website so we can improve it. They collect information in an aggregated form, such as the pages you visit, how long you spend on each page, and whether you encounter any errors.
We currently use Google Analytics 4. Where our analytics provider sets cookies, we configure them to minimise data collection — for example, by truncating IP addresses and disabling advertising features.
4.4 Marketing cookies
These cookies are used to deliver advertising that is relevant to you, to measure the effectiveness of campaigns, and to prevent the same advertisement from being shown repeatedly. They may be set by us or by third-party advertising partners. They are only set where you give consent.
Note: given the nature of our service, we apply extra care with marketing cookies. We do not use marketing cookies that combine health information with advertising profiles.
5. Specific cookies we use
A detailed list of the specific cookies in each category — including name, provider, purpose, category and expiry — is available on the "Cookie settings" page of our website. That list is kept up to date; the examples below are indicative only and will be updated before the website goes live.
Example — Strictly necessary:
- cnv_session — session identifier, expires at end of session, Canvera Clinic
- cnv_consent — stores your cookie preferences, expires after 12 months, Canvera Clinic
Example — Analytics:
_ga/_ga_*— Google Analytics, up to 24 months, Google LLC
Example — Preference:
- cnv_region — remembers your region, expires after 6 months, Canvera Clinic
6. Third parties
Some cookies are set by third parties we work with, including our analytics provider, our video consultation platform, our payment processor and our identity verification provider. Those third parties are independent controllers or processors in relation to the data they collect, and their own privacy policies apply. Links to the relevant policies are provided on our "Cookie settings" page.
7. International transfers
Where cookies set by third parties result in data being transferred outside the UK, those transfers are governed by the safeguards described in our Privacy Policy, including the UK's adequacy regulations for the EEA and the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses) for transfers elsewhere.
8. Children
Our services are not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly set cookies on devices used by children.
9. How to manage cookies
You have several ways to manage cookies:
- Use the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of our website to change your preferences at any time.
- Use your browser settings to block, delete, or be notified about cookies. Most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete cookies you have already accepted.
- Use privacy-focused browsers or browser extensions.
Please note: if you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of our website may not work properly — for example, you may not be able to log in or complete a booking.
Useful guidance on managing cookies is provided by the ICO at ico.org.uk and by aboutcookies.org.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, in the law, or in our service. The version on our website is always the current one, with the effective date shown at the top.
